John Tribe PhD
|Professor John Tribe is head of tourism at the University of Surrey, UK. His undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies were all undertaken at the University of London. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism, Fellow of the Association for Tourism in Higher Education and Academician of the Academy of the Social Sciences. His research concentrates on sustainability, epistemology and education and he has authored books on strategy, philosophy, economics, education and environmental management in tourism. He was the specialist advisor for tourism for the UK government’s 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) and is a member of sub-panel 26 for the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). He is editor of Annals of Tourism Research and The Journal of Hospitality, Leisure Sport and Tourism Education (JOHLSTE).|
Dimitrios Buhalis PhD
|Professor Dimitrios Buhalis is a Strategic Marketing and Marketing expert with specialization in Technology and Tourism. He is currently Director of the eTourism Lab at the School of Tourism at Bournemouth University. He is also the President of the International Federation of Information Technology for Travel and Tourism (IFITT).He has worked around the world and has written 18 books, such as Accessible Tourism - Concept and Issues or Tourism Management Dynamics, and more than 100 articles. Dimitrios is still an active tourism practitioner working closely with tourism organizations, governments and hospitality businesses for strategic marketing, technology and experience innovations. He regularly advises the World Tourism Organisation, the World Tourism and Travel Council and the European Commission on eTourism.|
Richard Sharpley PhD
|Professor Richard Sharpley commenced his academic career at Luton University, followed by positions at the University of Northumbria (Reader in Tourism) and the University of Lincoln (Professor of Tourism / Head of Department, Tourism & Recreation). He joined the University of Central Lancashire in 2007 as Professor of Tourism & Development. He currently teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in tourism as well as supervising a number of PhD students. He has authored or co-authored numerous books and book chapters on tourism and has published many peer-reviewed articles in leading academic journals including Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, International Journal of Tourism Research and Journal of Destination Marketing & Management. His current research interests include: tourism and rural entrepreneurship, dark tourism, and tourism and sustainable development.|
Konstantinos Andriotis PhD
|Dr. Konstantinos Andriotis is a Professor of Tourism at Middlesex and in the past he was Associate Professor and Head of the Hotel and Tourism Management Department, Faculty of Management and Economics at the Cyprus University of Technology. He holds a PhD in Tourism Development and Planning (Bournemouth University, 2000). He edits the International Journal of Tourism Policy and the book series Tourism Development and Management - Issues and Approaches. He is author of five books and over 35 peer reviewed articles and book chapters. His work has appeared in leading academic journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management and Journal of Sustainable Tourism. His research interests are in tourism development and planning, alternative forms of tourism and tourism experience.|
Anne Gregory PhD
|Dr. Anne Gregory is Chair of the Global Alliance, the confederation of 69 Public Relations Associations from around the world and Professor and Director of the Centre for Public Relations Studies at Leeds Metropolitan University. She created the Centre for Public Relations Studies, now recognised as one of the leading international research centres. The Centre works with a range of public and private sector organisations, undertaking research, consultancy, training and advisory work. Anne is widely published with books, book chapters and publications in prestigious academic journals and an international speaker in demand. Her Awards and achievements include: Sir Stephen Talents Medal for Outstanding Contribution to and in Public Relations (2009) - the highest award that can be made by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Outstanding Contribution to Public Relations, The CIPR Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Pride Awards (2008) and President of Institute of Public Relations in 2004, leading it to Chartered status.|
John Heeley PhD
|Dr. John Heeley writes, teaches and consults on the subject of urban destination marketing. He is employed part-time as an Associate Lecturer in Tourism at Sheffield Hallam University, and also lectures on a regular basis at the University of Surrey and at MCI in Innsbruck, Austria. His early career was as an academic specializing in tourism. After he went on to become the founder CEO of destination marketing organisations he developed for Sheffield, Coventry and Warwickshire, Birmingham and Nottinghamshire. From 2009-2012, John held senior executive position in European Cities Marketing. Within the United Kingdom, he has served as Tourism Advisor to the Local Government Association and as a board member of the Tourism Society and Leisure Studies Association. John Heeley’s first book Inside City Tourism: a European perspective was published in 2011. He is currently writing a second one entitled Best Practice in Urban Destination Marketing – a global perspective which is scheduled for publication during the summer of 2014. He sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Tourism Cities.|
